I must have a writer’s block of some sort.
Whenever I begin to write something for my next post, my mind just goes blank. My thoughts begin to wander and at times I find myself thinking about old Kung Fu and Japanese movies – you know, the ones where they fight with incredible stamina, enduring countless painful blows to their bodies, yet they still manage to fly through the air by jumping off blades of grass. If you weren’t the star of the show, you have a very short life span.
This reminds me so much of Ensign Nobody in the classic Star Trek series. If you were an ensign assigned to accompany Kirk, Spock, or McCoy on a mission, you may as well kiss your tail goodbye once you beam down to the unknown planet.
Have you ever at times felt like Ensign Nobody?I feel like that almost every weekend, Sundays especially.
I know I have a strong relationship with God, but when I attend the services on Sundays, the church building becomes the corkscrew to my bottled-up wounds. For one, I see young couples just starting out their lives --- walking hand in hand to their classes. Then there are the young families, where they still do the baby-talk routine. As I enter the worship hall, I see families sitting together, children laughing, crying, running around. Every so often, you would hear a 10-, 25-, or even a 50-year anniversary announcement. You would hear about new baby births, couples getting engaged, successes of the camps or fellowships or missions.
But alas…The beauty of this is that this is not a script. This is life; a life that is full of promise that only requires we have faith in Him.
…Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:20-21
